Keep the results when a Lead converts

How to do it in Address Verification, one step at a time.

Last updated 11 Oct 2026

Only for orgs that verify Lead addresses.

When a verified Lead converts, Salesforce makes an Account and a Contact. Map the Address Verification fields of the Lead, so the new records arrive verified and do not need a second lookup.

  1. Open Lead in Object Manager. Click Fields & Relationships.

Open Setup. Click Object Manager. Click Lead. Click Fields & Relationships.

  2. Click Map Lead Fields.

The page Custom Fields opens. It has a tab for each object: Account, Contact and Opportunity. Each tab lists the custom fields of the Lead. Beside each one, a list offers the fields of that object.

  3. Map the Address Verification fields. Then click Save.

Map as many as you can. Map at least these three Lead fields. For example, on the Contact tab:

    Lead fieldContact field
    Address VerifiedMailing Verified
    Address Return CodeMailing Return Code
    Address Last VerifiedMailing Last Verified

To keep the result on the Account too, map the same Lead fields to the Billing fields on the Account tab.

Applies to

Address Verification 7.3.x. These steps come from the tested Address Verification implementation guide, where they sit with the steps before and after them.
